This is the first joint national meeting in over a decade convened to address this public health imperative.

The selected books will align with the overarching JMYPTR 2026 mission, “From risk to resilience: Transforming youth substance use care.” Books published within the past 5 years on this topic will be considered. The session will last an hour and should include a brief (no more than 10 minutes) overview of the key takeaways of the book by the author. This overview will be followed by audience Q&A and facilitated discussion. Slides are optional.
Expectations: Authors must (1) register in advance for the conference and (2) provide one copy of the book for the student facilitator at least one month in advance of the session, so the facilitator can increase audience participation and engagement.
Proposal: The proposal must include the following information: (1) Book title, (2) First author, (3) Presenting author (if different from first author), (4) a 200-word description of the book, and (5) a 200-word summary of how the book’s themes/findings align with the conference aims.
Review process: These sessions will undergo a separate review process from the standard proposal process outlined in the 2026 Call for Proposals of other session types. We will offer a limited number of these sessions at the conference.
