RESEARCH SCIENTIST AT THE RECOVERY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Dr. Alex Russell is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Research Scientist at the Recovery Research Institute and National Center on Youth Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research, funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), focuses on emerging adults and the intersection of digital media, technology, and alcohol use disorder (AUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery. His current projects range from examining alcohol-related social media exposures (e.g., pro-drinking, pro-recovery) to developing and testing a large language model-based chatbot intervention to reduce drinking among emerging adults.
